…….看到一張海報,穿樽領毛衣的女士目光焦灼,一臉恐慌。這是香港話劇團新劇目《盲女驚魂》的海報。該劇改編自Frederick Knott的劇本,將於5月公演。

…….一看到該劇的英文原名Wait Unitl Dark,便想起年幼時在澳門,通過家中那台黑白電視看過的《奇謀妙計女福星》。該片改編自Frederick Knott的舞台劇劇本,那時年紀小,被影片深深吸引,相當緊張,以往也曾在這兒寫過。說來,有機會的話,真要看看原來的彩色版本。

…….寫上述那篇文字,源於一張1971年「總統、華盛頓、聯邦」聯線公映《盲女驚魂》的廣告,從而拉拉扯扯寫了一大段。1968年,片商把Wait Unitl Dark翻譯作《奇謀妙計女福星》,來到1971年,則把Blind Terror翻譯為《盲女驚魂》。

25Jan_1968…….這次香港話劇團演出的是Frederick Knott的原劇,然而,中文名方面,他們捨《奇謀妙計女福星》,用上原屬Blind Terror的《盲女驚魂》。當然,他們未必從電影譯名處找尋靈感,也許認為後者夠直接,道出盲女與驚魂兩個重要元素,前者則未能點題,反令觀眾如瞎子摸象,成了盲子盲女。

…….當年柯德莉夏萍憑《奇謀妙計女福星》獲奧斯卡提名。根據Imdb的讀者評分,它得到的分數亦較《盲女驚魂》高出不少。

…….這部1967年的電影,於1968年1月25日先映九時半優先場,再於26日公映,屬該年的賀歲片,排在東城、快樂和麗華線上映。這條院線曾否為觀眾帶來不少好片?有勞煩熟知情況的朋友補充。

  1. Wow! I didn’t even know Mayfair has been in a circuit for foreign movies. That tells us how things change. Mayfair was in Tai Kok Tsui, which must have been a “in” area in the 60s and 70s as there were many major cinemas, e.g. Ying King, Golden Crown and Good World. Mayfair became the “dragon head” for the Rialto-Mayfair circuit most of the 70s and then switched to Golden Harvest as their second cinema in Kowloon. In the late 80s, Tai Kok Tsui became very quiet so Mayfair’s time was up, so as Golden Crown, which became a adult movie house. Now the only cinema left there is the newly opened Sky.
